Lids4Lend - sizing for non-Lewmar hatches

Updated: Aug 15, 2023

When we introduced the temporary lids service we focussed on sizing them for Lewmar hatches (based around the Ocean series).

Of course it's a fact that most hatch manufacturers tend to produce units with similar dimensions, in part so they can offer theirs as a replacement to a competitors existing unit.

You do need to be careful though as whilst the width (X) and depth (Y) dimensions of the CUTOUT are similar, it is often the CORNER RADIUS which can vary, sometimes significantly. For example a Houdini Series 50 has a cutout of 500 x 500mm, but a corner radius of R100mm. Most Lewmar units have a corner radius between R31 and R42.5mm. Anyway, I digress...

This post is to show you what you need to check when working out if our Lewmar sized Lids 4 Lend cover will fit your non-Lewmar base.

The unit below is a Size 60 (Lewmar Ocean) and the distance between the centreline of each seal is ~519mm. The seals themselves (black) are 18mm wide. So in this case the unit could accommodate (base) ridge to ridge dimensions of ~501 - 537mm. The corner radius is R40mm on all sizes except the 20 and 00 which are R34mm.

So the distances you need to measure are as shown below and represent the centre to centre of the black closing seal, so as above can accommodate +/- 18mm
